Introductory Mathematics
This is the first of two courses in preparatory mathematics. View the second.
This course covers:
- basic algebra
- the concept of function
- matrix algebra
- the elements of trigonometry
- elementary statistics.
On successful completion of this course, you will have a sound background for the study of the mathematical content of undergraduate programs such as Business, Information Technology, Psychology and Health Science, as well as having mathematical skills suitable for many positions in industry and commerce.

- Basic Functions and Matrix Algebra
- Introduction to Statistics.

Cost
The course cost covers the course and all course materials (including any textbooks), but does not cover the fee for sitting the final exam.

How long will this course take to complete?
You have 12 months to complete this course, however it may be completed sooner. Need an extension?
We recommend 180-220 hours as a reasonable timeframe to complete this course.
Final exam
To be eligible to sit the final exam, you must complete at least 7 of the 10 progress tests for this subject. Completing all tests will improve your chances of successfully passing the final exam. More information about progress tests »

On successful completion of your final exam, you will be awarded a Certificate of Achievement.

Before enrolling in this course, you must check with the university you plan on attending to ensure you meet their requirements for the completion of this course. (For example: some universities require you to receive at least 75% on your final exam before it will be accepted.)
